Welcome to the Friends Exchange Community!
At the 2009 National Friends Conference the topic was "Friends United". There was much networking and an expressed desire to continue to share with and learn from each other. The result was a Friends Exchange Program, patterned after other successful exchange programs, like Rotary International Friends Exchange. Exchange programs recognize that individuals learn best from direct contact with others who share similar passions. As Refuge Friends we know much about the strengths and challenges of our own refuge and Friends Group. We can share this first hand knowledge and learn from other Friends directly, each time we host another and each time we visit another Friend at their refuge.
Members of Refuge Friends groups would register their desire to host and to be guests of other Refuge Friends.
When you register you indicate what you are able to offer to another Friend who might be interested in visiting your refuge and you. Perhaps you are willing and able to offer housing, a meal, a tour. Once you are registered, you are able to connect with other Refuge Friends who would like to host you or visit you.
To be a Refuge Friends Exchange member: 1. You have to be a Refuge Friend member. 2. Be willing to host in some capacity another Friend 3. Desire to visit in some capacity another Friend, for the purpose of learning more about our Refuge System.
Each Friends Exchange member is responsible for making their own connections. The Exchange program is simply the means to connect for this purpose. Registration takes about 5 minutes and you can use either the provided video or written guide.
